Literature Trading Cards are small pieces of art which reflect a particular piece of literature and are created to be traded and collected. These mini-masterpieces are the same size as other collectible cards like baseball or playing cards (2.5 x 3.5). LTCs are created with the intention of trading them with other students and developing a collection of cards. Each card is either an original, one of a kind, or it is part of a limited edition. A card is given freely in exchange for another card that is deemed to be of similar value. The back of each card contains information about the creator of the card as well as the book being represented by the LTC.
Front of Card
You must place an excerpt from your book somewhere in the design of the card. It may be one word, phrase, sentence or more. This card was created by Sheri Cline, MBCO's Kindergarten Facilitator. She chose to list the ducks' names as her excerpt. This is an example of the card your students would receive from her students if you partnered with her class in reading Make Way for Ducklings.
Back of Card
For our purposes in trading with MBCO classrooms, the following information must placed on the front and back of the MBCO Literature Trading Cards:
Student Name – School Name - Book Title – Author – Date
Number of card (optional)
