Students participating
in MBCO must have a parent/faculty sponsor who is also actively involved
in the process. Involvement includes monitoring the efforts of the
student(s) and supporting the academic facilitator.
Reading assignments,
vocabulary focus words, directive journal prompts, creative writing challenges
and discussion question(s) are posted for each week of the MBCO session.
It is imperative that students keep up with the reading assignments
so that they are able to fully participate in the online discussions. The extent to which a student participates outside the discussion group [creative writing exercises etc.] is determined by their teacher.
We want the MBCO experience to enrich a teacher's literature program, not overwhelm it. We will try to customize the experience as much as possible for each classroom. Participating teachers will correspond with the MBCO teacher advisor before beginning the discussion session so that we can create a unique learning experience for those who sign up. It is our hope that those who participate with us this year will help us to develop this concept into an exciting enhancement to a Christian literature study.
